1989-1990
Mountain View Jr./Sr. High School
The school opened its doors to students on September 4, 1989. It serviced students in grades 7-10, and enrollment was 457. The library served as both a cafeteria and a gymnasium until these facilities opened in January 1990. The first editions of El Aullido and Lobo Literati were published.
1990-1991
The school serviced students in grades 7-11, and enrollment was 638. Wings on the east side of the campus were completed, and the training room was built. The name of the school newspaper was changed to Lobo Press.
1991-1992
Seventy-four seniors became Mountain View 's first graduating class. Students experienced their first Homecoming, High-Q joined, and grass was planted. Enrollment was 1041 and consisted of students in grades 6-12.
1992-1993
Mountain View High School
The opening of East Montana Middle School allowed the school to become a full-fledged high school. Grades 9-12 constituted an enrollment of 580. The Lobos experienced their first Homecoming victory against Presidio High with a score of 48-0.
1993-1994
Mountain View joined ranks with the United States Army when JROTC joined the school. The name of the school newspaper was changed to Mountain ViewPoint. Coca-Cola donated the sports score board in the gymnasium. Enrollment was 515.
1994-1995
The seniors of the Class of 1995 were the first graduates who had attended the school for its entire existence. The senior class of 1993 and 1995 donated funds to purchase the marble rock. The computer reading lab opened, the Chess Club formed, and enrollment was 564.
1995-1996
Enrollment jumped to 620. Volleyball and baseball became two new sports. The Ecology Club and the Power Lifting Team joined. A new football stadium was built, and a school-wide instructional period of fifteen minutes per day was designated for TAAS review. The school experienced an 18% gain in TAAS score results. The school was exposed to the world when Ms. Woods built a school site and put it on he World Wide Web. UTEP provided server space to host the school site.
1996-1997
"To the Top"
The school experienced an administrative change when Mr. Hernandez, Mr. Owen, and Ms. Campos joined. TAAS enrichment classes began. Enchilada night for parents began. Coca-Cola donated the marquee and it was put up in November 1996. The Senior class of 1997 donated the rose garden. JROTC planted the three big trees in front of the school and in Lobo Park . CISD planed pine trees around the campus and grass in Lobo Park . Enrollment was 700.
1997-1998
TEA Recognized
A new east wing and softball field were built. Lobo Stadium and Lobo Park opened. The purchase of Cujo was organized by JROTC and paid for it with contributions from sponsored school organizations. Skip Deming Welding donated Cujo's support table, and members of both the Lobo Football Team and the Power Lifting Team put him in. The Dance Team, Flag Team, TAFE, and Girl's Softball joined. Mountain View became a 4A School and received a TIFF Technology Grant. CISD created Clint Net. TAFE published the school's first Literary Anthology. The Class of 2000 made Mountain View a TEA Recognized Campus. Enrollment was 656.
1998-1999
TEA Recognized Again
Enrollment jumped to 778. Ms. Campos became the principal, and Mr. Williamson joined. A bronze plaque, on which all donors for Cujo will be acknowledged, was placed on the front of Cujo. The computer maintenance class joined and built over 300 Lobo computers. Every classroom inside the main building, the library, and the writing lab were connected to the Internet. Desert Welding voluntarily manufactured the school sign on Montana , and El Paso Electric dug holes to put it in. The Varsity Football Team was ranked among the top 10 in the city for the first time in Mountain View history.
1999-2000
Exemplary Status is our Goal
Enrollment jumped to 914. A web page design class was established. Mountain View had its first Outstanding-Ex recipient, Mr. Bill Plunk. Seminole Independent School District sent a committee of administrators and teachers to search for the reasons for Mountain View 's success so they could be emulated. The University of Texas at Austin also visited Mountain View to learn about the practices and strategies we have used for out success. The Cross Country Team went to the State Finals for the first time in Mountain View history.
2000-2001
Mountain View had yet another administrative change when Ms. Campos was promoted to the CISD Central Office. Mr. Ray Saenz became principal. The Varsity Football Team won the district championship and went to BI-district against Ysleta High School . The school became TEA Recognized Campus for the fourth year. The UIL Academic Team won the District title for the first time in the school's history. A new fine arts building was added which now houses the band room and the drama room. A shaded Lobo Park was added to the Mountain View High School campus.
2001-2002
TEA times five...Mr. Antonio Robles replaces Dr. Noack as Assistant Principal after winter break. Varsity Football makes the Lobos Back-to-Back District champs, but they again lost the BI-District game against Ysleta High School . Déjà vu... UIL also had another victorious year. The band reached new heights at the competition level, winning several awards in both the group and individual divisions. Volleyball gained recognition winning the title of district champs for the first time in Lobo history and having the coach of the year, Ms. Alicia Gomez. Alex Ramos and other Cross Country members went to the state meet and did rather well. This was a successful year for the Lobos, both academically and athletically.
2002-2003
Another new principal, but this time Mr. Ray Aguilar came with a new assistant, Ms. Gloria Martinez. A new parking lot extension was added to the new extension of the building added in 2000-2001. :) A huge saltwater aquarium was placed in the newly tiled foyer. Cross Country and Track once again made it to state headed by Senior Alex Ramos, and baseball made it to the District Playoffs. In Academic U.I.L. There were 13 Regional Qualifiers, and the One Act Play placed third in district competition, bringing home many other individual awards.
2003-2004
Once again we get some new assistant principals, Mr. Gonzalez and Ms. Pena. The Tennis team went to the District 4A Regionals in Wichita Falls . We have a new Science Wing. Juniors are studying hard for the new TAKS Test.
2004-2005
Construction on new gym begins in fall of 04. The floor in the cafeteria was replaced. Also, new murals were added campuswide. A parking lot is added to the east side of the building, and the front east faculty lot is expanded.
2005-2006
The new gym is finally open and ready for use. Ms. Jimenez joins the adminstration as Assistant Principal. A beautiful electronic marquee is added to the front of the building. Mr. Robles stepped down from his Administrative position to become the head coach of the football team for the 2006 season.
