Welcome to MVHS!
Dear Parents, Alumni, Students, and Friends of Mountain View High School,
I welcome you to the Mountain View High School website. At different points of our history, MVHS has been a TEA Recognized High School. This honor was earned through the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and parents. However, the recognitions are students have earned have been many. In the last five years, approximately seven students have been named as PSAT/NMSQT National Hispanic Scholars. Our band has been a powerhouse in the El Paso area while earning advancement to the 3-A Texas State Marching Band competition. Aside from being competitive in UIL athletic competition, our athletes are consistently recognized as academic scholars. We will continue to put the student first in “student-athlete.” I am proud to say that our athletes are among the best students on campus.
We have increased our efforts to have our students prepared for college and find ways of offsetting the cost through scholarships and grants. The class of 2010 earned over $4 million in scholarships and grants.
These changes underlie the commitment we have at Mountain View to provide the best education and social experience to our community. I am firmly committed to being the best academic high school in the county and the best provider of student development through athletics, band, dance, academic UIL teams, ROTC, and various clubs. We are working very hard to teach young men and women to be well-rounded and productive citizens.
Our graduates have shown again and again that they are ready to attend the best colleges in the country, serve bravely and honorably in the United States armed forces, and contribute to their communities by returning to teach in our schools. We are proud of our alumni and students.
Finally, these young men and women would not be where they are now if it were not for the love and support from their parents, grandparents, and guardians. I thank you for the support you give to our students and teachers. I hope that you can continue supporting all of our student activities and programs throughout the year.
Respectfully,
Edmond Martinez
Principal
