Out-of-State / Out-of-Country Certification
Teachers certified Out-of-State or Out-of-Country
Educators who are certified in another state must have their credentials reviewed in order to become certified in Texas.
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- Must apply for a Review of Credentials through TEA
- Pass all required exam(s)
- Apply for One-Year-Certificate (if applicable)
- Must complete all requirements specified in the certification plan prepared by TEA/SBEC after completing the online credentials review.
Applicants are encouraged to apply for the Review of Credentials immediately as the process through TEA takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks for completion. Applicants must provide their teacher credentials from their prior state or country along with official transcripts. Out-of-Country applicants must submit official transcripts which must have a detailed evaluation obtained from a foreign credential evaluation services recognized by TEA.
