Section 504
Section 504 is a provision of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, that prohibits discrimination based upon disability. Section 504 is a civil rights statute that requires eligible students to be able to access the same education as their peers.
It is the duty of Clint ISD to evaluate students for Section 504, and implement a 504 Plan that provides reasonable accommodations and supports for students that have a documented physical and/or mental impairment, limited by one or more major life activities, to learn alongside their peers.
Parents and school staff can request a 504 meeting by contacting the Assistant Director of Special Education, Rodrigo Hernandez.Parents may also request a meeting in writing, by submitting the letter to the school principal. The school will then schedule a meeting to determine if the student is eligible and determine if a 504 Plan is needed.
