    Social & Emotional Learning

PBIS strategies are consistently utilized and work in conjunction with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). SEL is as an integral part of education and human development. Clint ISD students receive counseling and classroom lessons weekly focused on social and emotional learning (SEL) needs, skills, school expectations, and attitudes. Research supporting the significance of social and emotional competencies in promoting positive youth development is abundant. Students with higher social and emotional competencies have higher academic achievement, are more likely to stay in school and graduate, and have better life outcomes than students with lower social and emotional competencies. At Clint ISD our counseling vision is to provide a safe home-away-from-home in our school communities, focusing on heart first. We prepare all students today for tomorrow by providing intentional social, emotional, academic and career education.

SEL & PBIS ConnectionWhat is SEL?

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
