    What is Dual Credit?

Dual Credit is a process through which a student may earn high school credit for successfully completing a college course that provides advanced academic instruction beyond or in greater depth than the state curriculum for a corresponding high school course. The "dual credit" earned is a college credit (via EPCC) and high school credit for one course.

What are the advantages of dual credit course programs for students?

Earning college credits while in high school increases the likelihood a student will complete high school and enroll in and finish college. Students earn college credit through on-site courses at CECA, online dual credit courses, and attending college classes at El Paso Community College (EPCC) and at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

    • Rigorous and meaningful coursework in high school prepares the student for success in college.
    • Reduced college costs
    • Students may complete their college degree earlier, leading to earlier entrance into the workforce.
