Clint ISD Marks Beginning of Field House Construction at Horizon HS
Clint Independent School District officials held a socially distanced ceremonial groundbreaking on May 4, 2020 to mark the beginning of construction for a new field house at Horizon High School. For the safety and health of the all, only district officials and essential employees were present for the event.
Shovels in hand, Clint ISD Superintendent Dr. Juan I. Martinez and Board Members dug in and pitched the dirt to celebrate the new project at the site of construction as the district moves forward to continue improvements at the school for the future of the students and the community.
The new 14,243 square foot facility will cost the District $3.5 million in local funds and will be located adjacent to the football field. The building will consist of a weight room, football lockers, coaches offices, uniform storage, restrooms, showers, laundry area, and support services rooms. The facility is designed by Mijares-Mora Architects, Inc. and is being built by AO General Contractors.
The Horizon High School Field House Project, which is part of the continued expansion and improvement of the school, is expected to be completed in December of 2020. In recent years, the school has also received a new cafeteria and kitchen, classroom wings, safety vestibule, offices, parking lot, tennis courts, library and culinary arts facility.
Horizon High School, located in far east El Paso County, has an enrollment of 1,526 students in grades 9 through 12.
