School Wellness Policy

What is School Wellness Policy?

The school wellness policy is a written document that guides our district to implement and promote students' health, well-being and ability to learn. These policies align between health sectors and the district to improve health education using the "Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child" model and other models to achieve common goals for students. 

BDF - Board Internal Organization: Citizen Advisory Committees

The board shall establish a local school health advisory council (SHAC) to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district's health education instruction. Education Code 28.004(a) [See EHAA regarding duties of the SHAC.]

FFA - Student Welfare: Wellness and Health Services

The local school wellness policy is a written plan that includes methods to promote student wellness, prevent and reduce childhood obesity, and provide assurance that school meals and other food and beverages sold and otherwise made available on the school campus during the school day are consistent with applicable minimum federal standards. C.F.R. 210.31(a)
